Summer in Tuscany Writing Retreat

Join us overseas in July 2013 for our Summer in Tuscany writing retreat in Cortona, Italy. This writing retreat will take place July 15-22, 2013 at a beautifully renovated farm house at the foot of the town, and will feature Amherst Writers and Artists-style workshops.

Mornings and some afternoons will be devoted to workshops and the rest of the time will be left free for either solitary writing or exploring the area around Cortona. Two days will be set aside for day trips to Florence and Siena. Visiting the Uffizi in Florence is an obvious choice. In Siena we will visit the Piazza del Campo, one of Europe’s most beautiful medieval squares, and the magnificent medieval Duomo. If you feel like exploring on your own, other day trips can be made to Arezzo, Montepulciano, Perugia, Assisi, Lake Trasimeno and other famous destinations.

Of course, these outings are optional. If writing poolside or in a little caffe in town sounds more appealing, by all means use this time to its best advantage. The rooms in the farmhouse in which we will be staying are beautiful, air-conditioned and quite comfortable. You might want just want settle in and work.

The farmhouse features a splendid swimming pool, and sun terraces with views of Cortona. Your registration covers 1-week’s lodging, writing workshops led by Cary, and an individual conference with Cary. Lodging bedrooms and bathrooms are private. Each living space includes a living room and kitchen to be shared with one other participant. Food is not included in the price of registration, but attendees can either prepare meals in their suites from fresh ingredients purchased in town or try out the local restaurant offerings.
