Our person of the week: Kathy Dolbow Doran

O

Kathy Dolbow Doran was ‘present at the creation’ at Cary’s first Creative Getaway and attended two others which she claims to be among the best times of her life. She has a full-time writing position, but is in the midst of starting a movement for displaced Baby Boomers called 50 Plus Reinvented. Kathy was horrified to learn about the 50% increase in Baby Boomer suicides from 1999 to 2010 and is focused on “crowdsourcing” a movement to help people reinvent themselves. She is modeling her site on Dan Savage’s “It Gets Better”  project (helping suicidal gay teenagers) and is asking for your help. If you or anyone you know is in the process of reinvention, please share your story by emailing: [email protected].

  • Superb choice for “Person of the Week”. Kathy continues to inspire me with her energy and passion around worthy causes like this one. I know 50 Plus Reinvented will be a success if we all get behind it and share the word. There are a lot of stories out there that need to be told! I look for Kathy to be ‘Person of the Year’ in 2014!!!

    • As usual, it’s YOU inspiring ME! Thanks for your kind words and for listening to me constantly talking about this project. Your support, feedback and encouragement have made all the difference! I only hope to join the TEDx club and be as cool as you (as if!). Thanks again, my friend!

  • Kathy Dolbow Doran’s new endeavor sounds awesome !! Kathy puts her heart on her sleeve and and offers love and support to people in need. I am one of them. I love you Kathy – You go girl !!

    • Etti, you probably have no idea how much I admire you. Your words mean so much to me. Thank you! We can always encourage each other especially since we both know are hearts are in the right place. Thanks again. I wish you all the best.

  • Kathy is an excellent choice for Person of the Week. She cares so much about helping others feel good about themselves and find success, as she proved in her first book, Finding Your Niche. Kathy’s new project educated me about displaced workers in my age group and it touches me that she has so passionately spearheaded her new project and website to help those folks find support and lift themselves up. Way to go Kathy!!!

  • I am honored to have known Kathy for the last five years. She is an excellent writer, a concerned citizen and a very caring individual. I am not surprised that she undertook such endeavor. This is a well deserving honor, congrats Kathy!

    • “A concerned citizen” may be one of the nicest phrases that I’ve ever been associated with and you know what? I’ll take it. Thank you, Phil!

  • I am anxious to see the fruits of Kathy Dolbow Doran’s new endeavor; I am very familiar with her literary creations which BTW you can’t stop enjoying once you start reading them. There is much to explore about the baby boomers at this interesting times! and with such an excellent writer

    • Thank you, Margarita. I really appreciate your kind words and hope to hear your story of reinvention that I know is in the works!
